All underground mines crucially depend upon well-functioning ventilation systems.  The maintenance of ventilation standards that ensure the health and safety of workers, whilst needing to reduce operating costs, is a constant challenge facing the southern African mining industry.  Lack of proper ventilation can cause poor worker efficiency with decreased productivity, increased accident rates and absenteeism. This course provides specialised instruction on the scientific principles relevant to mine ventilation and on the planning and implementation of mine ventilation systems.
